It’s not just on the pitch that’s been a success though. Ahead of the Kazakhstan game, Cardiff City organised a community event in the House of Sport, which saw first team players and coaches run training session for youngsters from Tredegar Girls AFC, who were mascots for the game. The session included goal keeping training, shooting practice, dribbling skills and a game situation.
Joel Hutton, Head Coach of Cardiff City Women, said:
“The community event was an opportunity for us as a club to engage with younger grassroots teams across South Wales. We invited Tredegar Girls AFC, as we already have a strong partnership with them and have linked up a number of times previously.
“The event allowed some of our players to come along and work with some of the younger players, which everyone enjoyed. Every player who attended, including their families, had tickets to the Wales Vs Kazakhstan fixture which added value to the event. Thanks, must go to the FAW and WPWL for supporting us on the event, it’s definitely something we hope to replicate again in the future”
There were also plenty activities in the concourse to keep the 3,100 plus crowd entertained before the game and during half time, with a Beatball session, dancers from the Rubylicious dance outfit, outdoor fitness demonstrations by Obstafit, face painters and also an appearance from Tarian the Dragon.
