Met within touching distance of title

5-0 win over Port Talbot gives Archers one hand on the trophy

Cardiff Met have one hand on the Orchard WPWL Title after a 5-0 win over Port Talbot Town.

The victory extends the Archers' lead over Town at the top to thirteen points, meaning with three games to play Hayley Williams' side can no longer catch the leaders.

The only side that can now catch them are Swansea City, who they play next weekend at Llandarcy, but a point in that game for Kerry Harris' side will clinch yet another League title.

Five different scorers saw the Met home to a twelfth win of the season, increasing their unbeaten domestic run in the process to eighteen matches.

Alice Griffiths opened the scoring for Met in the twelfth minute, smashing home a thirty-yard effort off the underside of the crossbar into the net.

Four minutes later it was two, Naomi Clipston getting the goal, before Madison Schupbach slotted into the corner of the goal for the third just before the break.

Ellie Walker-Smith netted on the hour mark to make it four and Liv Thompson’s strike two minutes from time rounded off another perfect afternoon for the Archers.
