On Saturday night WPWL clubs and special guests joined together to celebrate the 2018/19 season and the people that helped to make it.
Presented by Beth Fisher, former hockey Wales player turned ITV Sports Reporter, we were joined by Ryan Edwards from Orchard, lead sponsor of the WPWL and members of the WPWL Panel.
Cardiff Met took home the biggest trophy haul, in addition to collecting their awards for the treble (Orchard WPWL Winners, FAW Women’s Cup and Orchard WPWL League Cup), player Madison Schupbach won
WPWL Player of the Year and the Golden Boot for scoring 18 league goals.
Swansea City’s Shaunna Jenkins won WPWL Young Player of the Year, in a hotly contested category, while Gareth John won Photo of the Season for his image ‘Fingertip Save’.
The final award of the night was presented to Hayley Williams, Manager of Port Talbot Ladies FC, by Ryan Edwards from WPWL head sponsor, Orchard. Hayely was an overwhelming favourite for the award from fellow clubs, players, and FAW staff, recognising both her personal commitment to growing and developing as a coach, the work she has done for her players, alongside the fantastic season Port Talbot have enjoyed.
Many congratulations to all of our nominees and winners. With 2019/20 being the 10th year of the WPWL we look forward to it being the best yet!
