The ten WPWL teams will be joined by a further 26 clubs from across Wales - the highest ever number of entries to the competition, a positive step forward in the growth of the women's game in Wales.
With so many entrants eight clubs were placed into the qualifying round, to be played on 15th September. The draw saw CPD Llanberis face Connah's Quay Nomads and Corwen at home to Prestatyn Town, Cardiff Bluebirds were drawn against Baglan BG Junior and Newport City take on Swansea University. The winners of these ties will progress to the First Round, which was also drawn today.
The First Round games are scheduled for Sunday 20th October and the full list can be found here. Two all WPWL clashes were drawn; Briton Ferry Llansawel v Cardiff City and Cyncoed v Cardiff Met. The other WPWL teams will play as follows: Rhyl host NWWFL Div 2 side Wrexham, Abergavenny have a trip West on the A645 to Merthyr Town, Llandudno will play the winners of the Corwen/Prestatyn away, Aberystwyth take on Cascade, while Swansea face Dafen Welfare (both at home) and Port Talbot also have a wait to see where their game will be as they face the winner of Newport City/Swansea University.
It is intended that the WPWL season will close on Sunday 12th April, allowing all teams to attend the FAW Women's Cup Final on 19th April, closing 19/20 in style and with a celebration of the women's game in Wales.
